I recently got a 2011 S4. It is a CPO. It has been on the road since Oct 1st 2011. It currently has 700km. I understand that the first service at 8000km is complimentary which includes an oil change.

I used to own a 2008 M3. I recall it's first required service is at 2000km covered by BMW. This first oil change is "only" for M cars. Hence I want to do an oil change early this time as well around 2000km. But I am concerned if the S4 has some kind of break-in oil that should not be changed prematurely.

Anyone on this board took their car in for an oil change before 8k?

Audi recommends 8k, so that is reasonable it is synthetic after all. If you feel safer take it in sooner, say.. 4-5k and you can refil with the break in spec oil and then the regular suggested oil from 8k onwards.

 

Not sure the dealer will provide the free service much earlier than 7K but call and ask. For the record, I change my oil twice as often as recommended. Just because synthetic lasts longer doesnt mean there arent contaminents in the oil that would cause wear ...

 

Get the service done at 8,000 km. the oil according to my mechanic is the same oil used at the 8k service.
