Default No Heat

I have been experiencing problems with the heating system of my A4. I have NO heat. Recently had a "air door actuator" replaced, but this did not solve the problem. Mechanic is checking with other sources, but it's getting too cold to go much longer without heat. Any ideas?

Does your temp gauge read normal as your driving your car, or is it always cold.

Did you try to flush the heating core?

Heater core is a typical one. Had it flushed this year about a month ago. Did wonders for the heat!

Waheed ... the temp gauge is spot on 90 (after about 10 minutes when I start it in the morning).

There's a chemical-like smell that comes through the vents when I have the "Auto" temp on (I have this set for HI).

I will contact my mechanic and ask if he's flushed the heater core. If only it could be so simple eh?

Well there are 4 things tied with no heat. First the thremostat, usually a lazy, or slow thermostat will stay open or closed even when the coolant is hot. Second, the coolant temp sensor is a usual suspect, but your reading 90 spot on after warm up so thats not it. Thirdly, the waterpump could have a broken impeller thus not flowing coolant freely to the engine and heater core. lastly it could be just a plugged up heater core. Its usually the last item in my list, but I have seen more odd things happen.

My S4 currently has heat, but very little. Temp gauge reads 90 spot on, and I have already flushed my heater core and coolant system. I think my issue is thermostat, or water pump....

Forgot to add, it may also be that the switching mechanism in the blower motor may be stuck as well. I have heard of this being the culprit as well.
