Hi,

I'm hoping for some help from you guyz in trying to trouble shoot a screeching noise in my 2000 Audi A6 2.8L.

The problem started about three weeks ago, the screeching sound comes when I start the engine, it goes away after a while. Sometimes it comes while driving as well, but never continues more than 5-10 mins at a time.

I removed the serpentine belt, to try and eliminate the the pulleys and the belts. I rev'ed the engine up without the serpentine belt and the noise was still there. I replaced the serpentine belt and the tensioner pulley with new ones.

The timing belt and water pump were changed in 2009, and the car hasn't been driven over 100K during this period. My thoughts were that maybe the Crank pulley needs replacement or greasing?
