Could anyone confirm if an A4 16x7 42mm offset with 215/55/16 would rub on a 2008 A3?

The wheel extends 8mm farther out than the 17x7.5 54mm offset and the tire is .4 inch taller.

I have mounted Audi 16 x 7 42mm offset ( ET42 ) rims with 215/55/16 tires on the A3 and they appear to fit just fine. No rubbing on first outing. They also clear the calipers with no problem. The tires are winter snows so I won't be running them for a while. I will post back here in a few months once they have had a good real world try out.

 

I'm pleased to advise that I have been running my A4 wheels on my A3 for a little over a week now and have had no issues. No snow yet, so will report back once more after I have put them through their paces under real winter conditions. Using a calculator I found on VWvortex I set the tire pressure on the 215/55/16 tires at 2 PSI higher than the stock 17's.
