I have a 2012 Q5 S Line on order. I am looking to get a winter wheel and tire package for it. I was wondering if I need to also purchase the valve stems with the TPMS in it or if this particular vehicle runs off ABS for the TPMS?

If I have to purchase the additional valve stem with TPMS, is this something that can only be purchased from Audi or just a generic part?

No TPMS needed. TPMS is built into the ABS not the wheels.

 

This would be good news ! I just ordered som rims and was thinking I would need to spend money on sensors as well.

You already have TPMS sensors in your ABS, you just don't have it software enabled in the MMI which can easily be done via vagcom.

 

OK, thx so gotta find someone with Vag Com in Ottawa, assume dealer won't do that. When you say enabled the TPMS is in the ABS but not enabled?!? I don't quite get it.

Also, in your signature I see you have HID fogs, what kind? Did you do the Tuner Domes LEDs for interior?

Your TMPS sensors are already active and built into the car's ABS system (not in the tire or the rim). All you need to do to reset TPMS is use a vag com to activate it at the MMI level so you can have on screen control. But even if you don't, you already have TPMS on the car.

My fog lights are an HID kit I got from ebay, they're unbranded. My interior lights are all LEDs as well.
