Default Q5 Windshield Wiper coverage

With apologies in advance for being picky, I want my left wiper to sweep all the way to the edge of the windshield. It currently stops about 3 or 4 cm short of the windshield edge, leaving a dirty bit trickling down the windshield. In winter when it is snowing, this will be an opaque section which blocks visibility, almost as much as the A-pillar itself.

How do the windshield wipers work? Is their range of sweep controlled by computer? For example, they can be parked in mid-sweep in the service position. Or are they mounted, like other vehicles, on splined shafts and you simply settle for the spline position closest to what you want? As a last resort, one can simply bend the wiper arm to a new position but this seems rather crude for a new vehicle. There is, however, sufficient space in the black wiper parking region at the bottom of the windshield to accommodate this approach.

With thanks in advance for suggestions,

Mike

I'd not adjust this just for the reason you mentioned: snow. It will accumulate at the left side of windshield in space provided. Otherwise it might damage the wiper arm (or even worse the wipers engine), as there might be too much snow accumulating at the side in very little space between arm and window frame thus blocking the arm movements. Note that windshield is rooted deeper than the edge of a-pillar to create duct to avoid water to spill over the side windows, so snow will not easily flip over the edge.
