Default What do you pay for servicing?

Hey,

Wondering what you guys pay for servicing on your Audi for those that take it to an Audi dealership (or post otherwise if you feel like it). I picked up an Audi earlier this year and booked it for my first service appointment, just asked for an oil change but they want to do an oil change and inspection and said it would take 1 1/2 hours and cost around $450. This is my first "expensive" car that I have owned so I don't know what would be a standard but I thought this was really high.

I've never taken my Audi to the dealership for such "small things" such as routine maintenance.

I do Oil Changes myself and have been since I was 12 (started working on Mercury Marine Motors). It costs me about $10 for the filter, $60 for the oil (just guessing, don't remember how much I paid). This would take me about 30 minutes on my 2001 A4. Since the Q5 is quite larger than the A4, I would assume it's easier to access the filter from the top and the oil nut from the bottom in comparison to the A4.

All in all I would guess an oil change to cost about $120 dollars including labour.

Inspection in my estimation would take about an hour (adding up to 1 1/2 hours with the oil change). The cost of this is unknown to me. I'm guessing they check the quality of the air filter, cabin air filter, coolant, brake fluid, brake life, run their VAG-COM diagnostic system to check if there are any errors.

Otherwise, it seems a bit expensive to me... But what do I know?

What is your mileage? It seems Audi has in their maintenace schedule at mileages certain things get done regardless of condition, ie cabin filter, air filter. If your feeling inclined you can always check that stuff out yourself and just get an oil change and save yourself a chunk of change.
