Default Escort Radar 9500ci Install

Installed Escort 9500ci in 2010 S5
Priced out new fog light grills, MMI Trim and console trim.
Placed Laser shifters in fog grills (cut and filed for perfect fit) used black rubber sleeves to make "boots" to further hide Laser hardware. Mounted provided brackets to aluminum bumper behind grills (Self tap screws).
Mounted Radar just below/left of front Audi Logo - perfect fit in grill - sits on top of front bumper trim behind grill.
Mounted ci display next to MMI display (Cut MMI trim - surface mount) ran all cables behind instrument trim.
Mounted ci controller on center/rear of console trim.
Mounted GPS on back window (Deck vibrates too much with speakers)
Still have to mount rear lasar shifter - won't fit on plate holder as rear camera interferes
Will likely mount it just above rear spoiler.
Mounted ci speaker behind drivers leg panel - empty bracket was already there.
Power via drivers-side fuse box.
Fire wall access for front laser shifters and radar is just above gas petal (firewall) and over in front of heater intake (Second noise wall) - used ci supplied grommets with stock piano grommet (Noise wall) and Can-tire 2" PVC grommet w wire lathe through fire wall.

System works great - see radar / photo radar well before they see me. System automatically learns false alarms - GPS give independent speed reading. Reminds me to drive responsibly.

Sounds like you really put some effort and thought into this installation. Would love for you to follow up with some pics as well. I do have a question for you. I know that radar detection is illegal here in Ontario, is the law different in Alberta? If its the same how would you deal with getting caught and they want to seize the device?

In BC AB & SASK it is still legal to have detectors; I don't understand why - laser shifting seems so "shady"
You should note that Escort claims this system is undetectable - a not so trained eye should still see the laser shifters as they require a semi clear view of the road ahead. I personally also mounted the radar "clear-view" as it matched the front grill opening perfectly and Escort claims - clear view give the greatest potential. The system does work well however if the police have good timing and target my car with pop tech (flash radar on as I approach like laser) my system would just be telling me to pull over and get my ticket. Lucky for me there are a lot of drivers with a lead foot and the Escort picks up them getting "popped". As I said before I don't go out of my way to be reckless I just use the system to be more "cautious", (knowing when not to speed is half the success). I also use the system to limit my cruise control (speeding with a second opinion) to stay out of the 4-demerit range
I guess I just like the gadgets - Next month I will be reprogramming my MMI to play the DVD video while driving - my daughter lives 4-hrs away and lugs her laptop aboard to watch movies as the road is long somewhat boring - keeps her entertained while i drive.

Pics of the 9500ci install
Front laser shifters in the foglight grills - clear-eye view of the the road ahead required for the best reception - one in each grill
Cut grill smaller than shifter then hand-filed for perfect fit.

9500ci Install
Radar module is a perfect fit in the grill = sits in top of bumper behind grill w velcro; although it is such a perfect fit the velcro is really not required.

Nice job. Wish it wasnt illegal here in Ontario. Would be quite a waste to have it all taken away.
