1st time poster and new Audi A3 owner.

Looking for some advise on whether or not to rustproof my 2010 A3. Living in the Ottawa area, we get harsh winters, and lots of salt is used. I previously had a Civic, never rust proofed it, and after 10 years there was basically no rust at all.

The Audi dealer said there was no need to rust proof...Any advice?

 

No need to rustproof.

 

Check with Audi. I understand that if the method you use to rustproof involves drilling holes than that would void the Audi warranty. I don't believe there is any harm in underspray before the winter but that is your choice. I get the undercarriage shampooed after the winter to remove any salt deposits.

 

The bodies are galvanized - no need to rustproof.

11yr warrenty on rust... my car has bubbles under the paint on both front doors and a little bit on the rear quarter pannel, no idea why. even the audi guys said that they havent seen this before blah blah blah...either way my car is in right now getting repaired at no cost to me.

 

I would use rustcheck. Then that all depends on how long you wanna keep the car.

 

may want to find out from audi if rust check voids warrenty... personally im not doing anything until warrenty is done

 

Already mentioned that AUDI will not honour warranty if the rust proofing involves body penetrations.

 

It might be too late.. if u wait till warrenty is done. if done from day one rust check works fantastic.. if done on a older car say 3 -4 years plus it will just slow down the rust process but still better then rusting away quickly!!
