Default Summer Q5 Mode!

Finally snapped some pics with the 20" S Line wheels back on. I love the lowered look!

She's a touch firmer overall and much tighter in the corners. With Audi Drive Select it's easily adjustable to a plusher ride by changing to "Comfort" mode. My suspension set up is almost always in "Dynamic" mode.

This is pretty awesome Tony...

Really makes it difficult to justify NOT getting H&R...

The only thing i am struggling with does it look to much like a large wagon, and not a lowered SUV...

Porsche Cayenne, lowers really nicely it is a rockin SUV when specc'd right.
Am just concerned it will loose some of the SUV height appeal if it is dropped...

Yes to all the purest out there i realise the blasphemy of lowering an SUV, but bah... If done right, can be an awesome mod to a car...

Personally, I don't really consider the Q5 to be an SUV. Crossover, maybe, but definitely more car than SUV. Yes, it is off-road capable, but on-road the last type of vehicle in the world that it feels like is an SUV. In my opinion it doesn't even look like an SUV.

To me, the lowered look gives even more street appeal. It fills in those nasty wheel gaps SO nicely. It's hard to define exactly what it looks like now, but being that I love the Audi avants as well, I don't mind if it has a bit of that look to it too.

As an added bonus it's actually easier to get into and now I don't need to stand on anything to completely wash and dry the roof!

Looks awesome, Tony. Noticed you also took away the S-Line logo on the side.

Thanks! I removed all of the badges I could except the rings. It's a much cleaner look, in my opinion. Debadging is usually one of the first things I do to a new car.

Warcity and I took the rear badges off on mine...looks cleaner. Thinking of taking away the S-Line badges on the side...don't know when yet.

looks great. just ordered a lava grey 3.2 s-line and have a few days to decide if i want the Drive select option. Do you find that there is a big difference between the dynamic and comfort? What setting is closest to stock? Any way you can disengage it entirely to bring it back to stock settings?

sorry for all the questions. i don't want to regret my decision and didn't have a chance to test drive one with drive select.

thanks!

I hace the ADS in my 2010 Lava Grey. The Dynamic is the best part about it, but to be honest I have heard many non ADS owners say the S mode is very similar in engine response (leaving out suspension and steering of course). No sure if I would do it again, although the fun of dfiving occasionally in Dynamic is pretty cool

Thanks! Personally I think the lowering springs made all the difference in the world for how she looks.

I am a big fan of Audi Drive Select (ADS). I love the adjustable options that it gives me for how the car performs and responds. There are the two presets that you asked about, plus the default Auto setting and the Individual setting.

There is a huge difference between the Dynamic and Comfort settings. Overall, the Dynamic setting gives a much more responsive and lively feel. The throttle response is drastically increased with more aggressive shifts, the steering isn't as soft and you feel more of the road through the suspension. The Comfort setting gives you exactly what it describes with the emphasis being on comfort and fuel economy. The Auto setting is also a fairly comfortable, fuel efficient drive that would be between Dynamic and Comfort. Each time you start the car ADS defaults to the Auto setting, which would be like "stock settings" (if I understand you correctly.)

The true beauty of ADS is the Individual setting. This allows you to adjust each element of ADS individually. I prefer a more responsive acceleration and steering set up, but like the Auto setting for the suspension. This is how I have my Individual setting. The other great feature is that my Individual setting corresponds to my key. So if you have a second driver who prefers a more comfortable ride, they can set there's as the see fit it will correspond to their key.

If you don't really care about how your car responds when you drive, then it's likely not for you. If you prefer to be able to dial in the responsive nature of the car or have multiple drivers, then I would recommend ADS. If you're still not sold, I'd check with my dealer to see if there was an A4 or A5 on the lot with ADS that you can drive. It's not an identical feel to the Q5, but you will definitely notice enough of a difference in settings to let you know if ADS is worth it to you.

-Playonwords- I wanted to get Audi drive select, but my sales rep advised me that over time as the vehicle ages if there are any technical issues with the system, it will get extremely expensive to repair as the system is very sophisticated.
