WOW the 2010-2011 A4s have a 8 speed tiptronic!!! Amazing!!!

 

I find the 8 speed tiptronic super annoying to drive. The car is constantly shifting gears trying to optimize fuel economy. I wish there was a setting between economy (read normal) and sport that let the engine rev to a reasonable level. The economy mode shifts way too low in the rev range and the sport mode holds on to gears way to long for normal driving. I know the simple answer is to buy a manual, but I'm sure Audi could easily add a third shift profile to the computer and solve this issue.
I realize this comment is pretty picky, but the constant shifting gets really really annoying on a daily commute.

 

I guess i didnt think about the constant shifting but i drive a 6speed multitronic and i love how i dont hear or feel it shifting at all and the 6speed is a great advantage for accelaration. I guess 8 gears would be a little weird.

 

How did you get to drive an 8 speed tiptronic Audi? None have arrived in Canada yet.

 

Multitronic transmissions or CVT (Continuosly Variable Transmissions) don't have any gears. The tip feature in CVT cars is a simulated tip feature controlled by a computer.
