Default Help!

Hey all,

I recently bought some used H&R CO for my 00 B5 S4, off of a forum member....

I had them installed from a buddy of mine (licensed mechanic), but after the install, we noticed a clanking sound coming from the L front. The suspension itself seems to be fine, and my buddy thinks that it's the subframe bushing on that side, as he noticed a fair amount of play on that side....He thinks that during the install, it may have weakened.

I took it to a place in Mississauga today, but they didn't have time to thoroughly check it out....they fit me in to let me know whether or not it was "safe" to drive....after briefly having a look on the hoist, they told me that it's ok to drive for now, and that it may be the bushing or one of the upper linkages. He said though that the cost of either would be like several hundred dollars, like $700!

Does anyone on here know of any trustworthy shops in the GTA, preferably west end, that would be able to do something like this, at a more reasonable price? I don't think that changing a subframe bushing should cost that much, no? Or am I wrong?

Any information will be greatly appreciated.....

marty

PS--f'in thing looks so HOTT crushed on thosed H&Rs.......

Hi Marty,

I have recently taken my B5 S4 to Simply Imports in Burlington. James has worked hard to service my car for as little as possible, and I have been impressed with the way they do it...they are really nice guys.

Here is their contact info:
Simply Imports
15-5115 Harvester Rd.
Burlington, ON
L7L 0A4
905-631-2886

If you go, tell them that Colin sent you.

Good luck!

A subframe bushing should not have taken any abnormal load while installing coilovers. It's likely either the upper strut bearing or the control arms / tie rod end / sway bar end link.

Most common mistake people make when working on multi link Audi suspensions is torquing down the hardware with the suspension unloaded, meaning control arm bushings tear apart pdq.
