Long Story

So at first i had thought that my coil packs had gone out on me as i had come to a stop and once it turned green i had a slight acceleration hessitation (1-3 seconds) when i stepped on the gas. After those initial 3 seconds however it felt as if nothing was wrong. Immediately i had believed that my coil packs had gone out on me as it is one of the first major symptoms to a failed pack. I was approx 5 mins away from home so i drove it like that barely coming to any stops. I shut the car off and proceeded to call for a tow truck as i didnt want to drive my car any further for fear of causing more problems.

Cut to the chase: I go to my mechanic and he immediately tells me that my c packs are not the cause of the acc hessitation (no misfires through any of the cylinders). He then shows me the diagnostic tool and a print out showing me the codes that came up out of the car.

Description: Failed components consist of pcv valve, vacuum transfer tube, 90* elbow on top of oil filter housing & pcv control valve. Internal and external vacuum leaks. Common issue on 1.8l turbo audi's and vw's.

P1479: Brake boost vacuum system mechanical malfunction intermitten
p1297: Turbo/throttle valve connection pressure loss

I asked him and he stated that it was not that much of a big deal but to go to a more specialized audi mechanic to fix the problem as he does not have the necessary tools to do so. I trust my mechanic and truly trust his advice. I drove the car home-work-home & during each and every drive, it felt like nothing was even wrong with it.

My question is until i can bring my car to eurasia (highly recommended european specialist shop in edmonton), should i be too worried? I have done some research on both codes and a lot of other people seem to have the same problem.

I think you already know the answer. Bring it to Eurasia right away! Unless you trust the people of an internet board more than an audi mechanic.

 

p1297 could be crankcase ventilation valve or even just a torn vacuum line.
p1479 may be a leaky vacuum line too going to the brake booster.
