Audi specifies that the oil should meet a certain VW standard - see your owner's manual. I believe you would void any remaining warranty by not doing so. That said, the early 2.0T engines are prone to fuel pump cam follower wear (google HPFP cam follower to find out more). I've read the supposition that this may be exacerbated by low levels of zinc and phosporus in many newer motor oils, including those that meet the required specification. An example of an oil with relatively high ZDDP (the compound with the Zinc and Phosphorus) is Mobil 1 Turbo Diesel Truck. It comes in 5W40, but you might have to look around for it a bit. Shell Rotella (at least one of the variants) is in this bucket, as well.
The oil filter in this engine is the cartridge type. I went with Hengst, a German OE filter supplier. See here:
