Default 2001 Audi A6 "poor starting "

2001 Audi A6 (110,000k)

From time to time my car is very hard to start, I have to turn it over and over till it finally catches and slowly runs up to idle. I am not sure but I think it floods itself.

Can anyone give me any ideas? I thought it might be a worn distributor cap, but I don't think this car has one!

4 months ago I had new plugs, belts, water pumps etc. done

thx peter

No offense, but it sounds as though you're not ready to troubleshoot an Audi. There is no distributor on your car (does any modern car still have one???), and the only way you're really going to flood your car is if a sensor is out of whack - the car won't inject fuel when it's not needed (it is still possible, though).

That said, if you presented the situation better, I'm sure we could help. When is it hard-starting? Is there a definitive pattern to it? How long has it been doing it? Did it coincide with the T-belt job? Is it temperature dependent?

I'd say the most important factor in diagnosing modern vehicles is to have a OBD scanner, in the case of Audi you need a VAG-COM. A quick scan will likely point you in the correct direction.
