I was caught speeding today, going 60 km per hour over the limit. I was passing a car and a semi trailer. i was slowing down but he locked me in right when i was at top speed. I have to be in court on July 27th. Has anyone fought a ticket like this and is it possible, and should i get a lawyer.

Any advice would help guys.

 

Yeah its an automatic court apperance isnt it? If you are 50 km/h over the limit your licence will be suspended. I had the same thing and got a lawyer and got it reduced to a minor fine, and kept the licence. I think they suspend it in some cases for 3 months.

 

Yeah it is an automatic court appearance. How fast were you goiung and how did you get out of the ticket with only a minor offence?

How much did this whole process cost you??

 

The lawyer got it down to disobeying a sign, he was a friend so free of charge and he knew the judge. So I lucked out. Ticket ended up costing me like $117 or something

 

I bargained with the prosecutor for my wife's ticket which she got just north of Gibbons.He let her plead guilty to a lesser charge in exchange for getting it over with.Actually bumped it down to a charge similar to a photo radar charge so she got no points.But she was only going about 40KM's over the limit.
