Default 03/ A4 Air Bag Sensor

Hi,

I have an Air Bag warning light on, and when I diagnose it with VAG-COM I get the following error code:

01222 - Crash Sensor Side Airbag: Passenger Side (G180)
012 - Electrical Fault in Circuit - Intermittent

The dealer service dept. can't seem to help, other than "bring it in". Does anyone have experience with the above?

Does anyone have the newest VAG-COM, as the version I have is the free version. I'd like to diagnose properly and try to figure this out. I'm in the DVP/Vic Park area.

Thanks in advance for any help.

George

could be something with the wiring. Grip the cables under the passanger seat and sperate them a bit and try again to reset, if nothing squeez them together and try to reset, fiddle around a bit, thats waht i did to mine and it worked. Best of luck, anyting is better then going to a dealer!

Thanks for the suggestion. I'd try shaking a voodoo doll at it before going to the dealer. I've been having the worst luck with service shops. The last one broke the belly pans hoisting the car, and then did a half *** job replacing them. Like I'm to blame for making them service my car. They must make too much damn money.

I'll look at the cables under the seat. The one service rep said I'd have to replace the air bag. The other said it's the sensor in the seat and that would have to be replaced. The electronic shop manual I have says it's a sensor in the pillar on the passenger side. I'll keep looking at posts here with fingers crossed. I'd hate to shell out $400 for an air bag, have them rip apart my dash, and pay another $300 in labor if I don't have to.

Thanks for the advice...gv
