I have a 1997 a6. It's a 2.6 all wheel drive automatic. The other day all of the gauges stopped working. They came back for a second and them shut down again and haven't been on since. Its as if the car isn't even running, the warning lights don't come on either. Any insights to what this might be? thanks

 

I have heard this often, and the wiring in the back comes loose and needs to be replugged in and held in place by a sponge or a clamp of some sort. The IC can be removed with 2 screws which are at the bottom of the IC. to do this remove the plastic strip along the bottom to reveal the screws, careful not to break the trimming. hope that helps

 

Everythig back there was tight. Is there some sort of a relay that might be bad. None of the gauges work and the autocheck also doesn't work. Any other suggestions?

 

have you checked your fuses?

 

yes. all the fuses are good. also i forgot that my cig lighter also stopped working when the gauges stopped working

 

ummm sounds like a possible short! Does anyone have a wiring diagram for this??????
