Picked up a long scratch on the hood, looks like it should be able to come out with a good scratch remover and shouldn't need repainting. Tried Meguiar's cleaner wax which claims to remove scratches but didn't work.

Any advice / recommendations?

Try Autoglym Paint Renovator. It seemd to work fine for a friend of mine.
