B5 S4 Strange Noise.. Question
Hello,
I have a b5 s4, im at about 140,000 km.. what is happening is usually when i accelerate from a stop or brake to a stop or even when i change gears i can hear the same kind of clunk noise it sounds like something is loose or something.
Does anyone have any idea what this could be? tranny mounts were recently replaced, car is very well kept in general.
Thanks.

Come out the next meet and we can figure it out! Forward me your contact information by clicking on my name and going to private message. I got a vag com maybe we can scan it and see if anything comes up. But by the sounds off it could it be the clutch dissingage and re-ingage???
Does it sound like the noise is coming from underneath you or underneath and slightly behind you? If so, inspect driveshaft joints, drive shaft mid mount bearing and rear diff mounts. When they wear, they start clunking under initial accel / decel.
feels like its coming from more to the front of the car, those are good tips and i'll have both those checked out, but after looking more i have a feeling its my control arms.. they're clicking from being worn out. but i'll check and let ya know thanks.
Control arm kits are available for ~$500 from Mike at PureMS, ECS has em too for about $30 more. Be sure to get a kit with all new mounting hardware. Most of the arms are not hard to change and a dealer will charge you a fortune to do this work. One bolt is a bit of a bugger to get at but the rest should be straight forward.
yeah thats what i was going to do.. i'm going to have it checked out this week so we'll see if its the control arms or anything else.. thanks
