Default Brake usage - is this normal?

Hi,

Ive gotten a certified audi from dealership, the inspection said 7 mm (50%) at brakes. After 2000 km the damn change brakes (front) warning is up.

Is this normal???? This seems to be worn off pretty fast...

Thanks
Dan

Well, best you take off the front wheels and take a look at them: the wear indicator ought to come on somewhere between 3 and 5mm, unless the sensor wire going to the pad has broken off. When you say there's 7mm left, is that the fronts or the backs? There are no sensors at the back, so if the 7 is referring to those pads, it's not diagnostic at all.

Unless you brake very hard very often, you shouldn't wear out 2mm+ of pad material in 2000km.

Yes i was refering to front which was 7mm at inspection - 2000km after the light turned on. Its at dealership now - if they say its not the sensor I am going to scream at them to change them for free :P

More importantly, if they really are worn that low in such a short amount of time, you should have somebody look for dragging brakes.
