Hi there I'm new to the board and new to the Audi community.

I've been thinking about an S8 for a long time now but always backed away from what people tell me.

-Too expensive to maintain.
-Aluminium body = expensive to fix dents.
-Gas guzzler. etc. etc.

I just want to here from people who actual owned one. What are their thoughts, what they love about the car, what they hate.

-What are the common problems for these cars
-Cost of maintinance
-what is the average gas milage
-will it make a good everyday car.


This car will be the primary family car, my wife will use it for her 10km round trip daily commute. And we tipically log about 15,000 km a year.

Any help or opinion would be appriciate.

Ok, I'll bite and provide some rather useless feedback. Haven't owned or even driven an S8 but my uncle is on his second A8 and I've driven that a fair amount. It is a very quiet civil ride and can imagine the add'l performance one may enjoy from the "S" version. Gas consumption probably isnt much of an issue based on only 15k annually and mtce likely will be the same. That said, its a big car with some very large blindspots in the rear making it a bit of a PITA as a daily driver in the city ... May I suggest taking a look at the S6 or S4 ?
