How do you take off the shifter ****? I need to change the leather skirt at the base of the shifter (ripped).

You should be able to just turn it counterclockwise, no?

 

True for the ****, but how do you take out the skirt underneath? It is mounted on a plastic frame at the bottom, and I don't see any way to release that frame. It's probaly something hidden, underneath.

 

If I remember correctly, it's just a clip. However, you may have to unscrew the plastic housing that holds it, remove IT, and then unclip the skirt from underneath. I think the plastic housing is held by a few screws under the dash console. You unscrew it there, pull it away from the center area and lift up. The other way might be unscrewing it from between the seats underneath where the ashtray sits. It's there somewhere. Wish I could be more help but I'm just not in front of it right now.
