Mine rattles intermittently. It seems to be isolated directly behind the aluminum trim on the driver side door.

Rear deck rattles when the stereo is rocking though!

Car only has 1200 kms on it so far.

 

Lucky me I brought my 2011 to Agincourt and they found the rattle was come from the window regulator. They replaced it and fixed the door seal. The rattle gone.

My door rattling issue is when I close the door; I got my 2008 A4 (lease return), and it seems that the previous user was hard when closing the door -I am currently in discussion with the dealer service to fix - I think it is the Regulator, but I will advice when fixed... later

 

So my door was rattling. took a while, but turns out it was the aluminum trim. I slid a piece of thick paper behind and it stopped.

 

Thanks for your reply - in my case, the dealer found that the handle (consists of inner and outer parts) were lose, they tighten them and the rattle stopped

 

I am experiencing a similar issue to the OP, first day I bought the care in July 2011 I noticed it. Every time I go over a bump and more likely over a series of bumps, the doors rattle but most severely on the driver's side. I have had it to the dealer 4 times. They have done a bunch of re-insulation of the door panels and also sprayed silicon as mentioned in the previous responses. Still rattles. When I open the windows a bit it doesn't rattle at all. Still, they can't seem to decipher the issue? To me it would seem to be in the window casing. The rattle sounds sort of like a loose latch or something. This is maddening as now I am completely attuned to the noise. Any more advice would be appreciated.

I had the door rattle from day one of my 2012 Avant. Brought back to the dealer at Downtown Toronto Audi and they fixed it. I hear no more rattles and it was covered. They re-lubricated and cleaned all seals (door, hatch, windows, sunroof) and did a stethoscope test to confirm where the noise was coming from. Now the car is nice and quiet-rattle free and solid. Customer service was excellent!

 

I have what is likely the same rattle on a 2012 avant. I have also noticed the same rattle in every A4 loaner I have had from the dealer.

I have found our car to have more interior rattles than I would have ever expected from an Audi, and it is proving difficult to get them resolved at the dealer.

 

Hey! So since my last entry over a year ago regarding the door rattle, my avant is very quiet with no rattling of the door or anywhere else. I brought it in within a month and they diagnosed it as dry seals around doors. They lubricated all door and sunroof seals and the rattling went away. The rattling sound I heard did sound like some loose parts or something inside the door. Another 6 months passed and the rattling came back. They looked at everything again and re-adjusted the doors to give it a better seal and also lubricated the seals again. Now the car is perfectly quiet. So maybe suggesting them look at the door and adjust may help.
