I know that some, not all, Petro stations carry the 94 octane that Sunoco used to carry.

 

I use Husky 94 octane because the station is convenient to my house. I have used this gas since 2001 with a 1998 A4 2.8V6 and currently a 2005 A4 3.0V6 and 2008 A4 Avant 2.0T.

My fuel consumption is excellent and I haven't had any sign of premature engine issues due to the use of ethanol. Every 5000 km or so I switch to a tankful of any other brand just to run a different set of additives through the whole system and then switch back to Husky.

 

They did but there are some stations still around... also petro converted some to petro and still have 94 and some went to husky. i have a sunoco near my house still. use it as my main station.

 

Chevron! wow i i forgot about that... reminds me of BC visiting family... thats the main station i go when visiting my grandmother out there. full serve too! =)

Gas is gas. Any mechanic can tell you that there is no advantage to using one company's gas over another. They all have enough cleaning agents. In fact, it is not unheard of for some gas stations to buy their gas from a competitor's wholesaler. The stuff you pump with BP is pretty much the same as what Shell has. Which is probably the same stuff as the discount places. BP and Shell advertise well enough to make you think there is a difference.

 

i've seen some original petro's adding 94 octane too.. and i would presume that eventually all sunoco station will be replaced to husky or petro. I've seen some standing for a bit, then a month later it was closed for reno.

 

91 shell all the way. I used to use sunoco 94 before i got mine chipped for 91. And i like how 91 in shell does not have ethanol. I also find i get better milage with 91 shell then 94 sunnoco

I was wondering what gas do you prefere out there? Any pros and cons, differences between specific brands?
I personally use Costco station for 91

 

One very senior Audi technician told me numerous times for German engines Shell is number 1 followed by Petro Canada. He explained it to me I can't recall exactly but it made sense. I've been using shell for 10 years straight on all my cars. I am so loyal I once almost ran out of gas looking for 1 .

All my friends who drive German are all also loyal Shell fans.

At the end of the day premium prices are pretty much the same at all stations I'd pick Shell.

Audi uses shell in their race cars at Le Mans

 

Can you guys tell me what ills await those that venture down to 89?

My SAAB used to adjust to the different octane levels; not sure if my A3 would do the same nor if it would like the taste.
