DIY: Serpetine Belt and Snub Mount replacement.

Hey guys, I had a free Saturday and the weather was nice so I decided to tackle the Serpentine Belt and Snub Mount replacement. I took some pics as I went along. Here goes....

Front Bumper Removed.

I stripped two of the rad support bolts trying to take them out, dang hex heads!

The bottom right aux rad, full of crap I took the air nozzle and cleaned it all out.

The Aux rad on the left this is the reason why cold air intakes do not work on the B6 S4. The hot air is sucked straight into the CAI from this rad completely defeating the purpose of an aftermarket intake. I've been trying to find an factory replacement for months.

You can see the factory snub mount just slightly to the left.

The factory snub mount and brackets next the nice new polyurethane Apikol snub mount.

The snub mount installed on the bracket.

The Apikol Snub mount installed and serpentine belt installed. The factory belt was fine but since I was there, doesn't hurt to do it.

Front bumper cleaned up and ready to go back on.

Inside the front bumper showing the head light squirter assembly and the hose that runs from the windshield wiper reservoir.

The Opposite side.

All back together and on the ground, minus the head lights. I need to do the fix still.

Thanks Mike, I will put together a better write up in a few hours.

Thanks for the writeup! FYI, those bolts not hex-keys, but Triple Square or XZN bits. VAG uses them throughout their vehicles, and since they're rather difficult to find, anyone who does their own maintenance should have a full selection in their tool chest. They're used extensively in the drivetrain.

Nothing sucks more than tearing a few hours into a job and finding out that you have to order something from the 'net ;)

rad support bolts? are you sure you had to buy a special set for it? i could swear they were torx #30 and #45 to remove rad support bolts

It's difficult to tell from the pic, but I figured that since they were stripped, it was the two large Triple Square bolts, and not all the other Torx bumper bolts. Also, you can get Torx bits anywhere, but the Triple Squares are rare, so it's common to see them rounded out...

Sorry guys my bad, I meant Torx... but they're not Torx either I see. They're in there tight boys. I had to use a breaker bar like the EuroAddictions write up said to get them loose and when they come loose they make a pop sound. I actually thought I broke the head off on the first one.
