Brakes? 2012 S4 24,000

Brakes? 2012 S4 24,000
The BRAKE warning went on 2012 S4 with 24,000 mi, no other indications of problem they are working fine. The dealer says usually pads and rotors on front $800. I have not found a DYI video. Any money saving tips?
