You know you're spoiled when...

You get a loaner (base model A4) and you miss Q5 and everything about it...

I brought in our Q5 Tuesday and we won't get it back until Friday (possibly next Monday) and I'm going nutz! I miss it and everything it does.

I can't complain to others because they wouldn't understand. It's not like I'm driving a Chev Cruze for a week - but geez, I really can't believe how much I miss the Q5.

I just needed to whine a bit... Thanks for reading.

For others thinking about adding/not adding certain options:
- B&O is worth it: I miss the clarity of the system. Audi Concert just isn't the same...
- Navi: I miss having the control near the armrest, the additional menus/color screen that's in the driver's dash and the smoothness of selecting items in the menus. I noticed that scrolling through the regular non-navi menu is choppy. I think it's because of the Nvidia chip with the Navi system.

I miss a lot more, but those are the two options that people seem to question all the time.

May I ask why you have to leave the Q5 for that long?

I KNOW EXACTLY WHAT YOU MEAN! I dropped of my A5 at the dealership on September 1st. I got a 2010 A4 as a loaner. I just got my A5 back on the 13th. I almost hugged and kissed my car.

Interesting that you say that as I am about to experience the same thing next week. 5 days without the Q5. Sigh.

I asked the service counter whether my loaner is going to start with an "S" or an "R".

Couple of issues:

1. Rough starts - Faulty injectors (3.2 engine): Replacing #1, 2 and 6.
2. Issues with Parking Assist (would fail - no camera or the screen just wouldn't show up): Replacing the MMI cable from the camera (they sent a TAC to Audi).
3. Re-balanced the wheels (had a shake).
4. Weird noise (sounds like the fuel pump is priming or dumping) once the Q5 is off. I don't think this is an actual issue since I heard the same thing from the loaner A4 on the first day with it.
5. Keyless doesn't always open the trunk/unlock doors - need to use the keyfob. I don't think they'll find this one or be able to fix it.

All small stuff - just had to wait for the parts and they thought it easier for me to keep the loaner until they could fix it.

Soo..... I CAN'T WAIT FOR TOMORROW NIGHT!!!! WOOT WOOT!!

LMAO!!! It's going to be hard no to do that.

The only good part about having the loaner - we don't fight because we both don't feel like driving it.... ;)

You're hilarious! I wish S5 would have been nice!!! or the R8!! Not so sure I would have missed the Q5 as much.... ;P

I'm sorry that you'll be loosing yours for that amount of time. It really sucks. It's like the wait to get it all over again plus add some withdrawal symptoms....

1. Miss the sound of the engine and the response you get from it
2. Miss the gadgets
3. Miss the height and the smoothness of the ride
4. Miss .... a whole lot!

What's yours going in for? Feel free to vent in this forum during your week.

No venting necessary. No problems so far after 5 months, so i feel lucky there.

I felt compelled to get the Stasis ECU tune + exhaust to see what that 2.0T could really do. The ECU gets a trip to W.Virginia and that's how long it takes.

I meant venting about the loaner. I have no regrets with the Q5. It's been great! I just really miss it... I'm hoping to get an e-mail very soon saying it's ready. :p

Please post your results - I'm curious to see them.

Glad to hear that. On point 5, I noticed that I have issues with my Advanced Key sometimes as well. So far I see that if I have other metals things in my pocket with the fob, such as other keys and coins, it tend not to work. As of now, if I have the fob in my pocket, I have nothing else and I haven't had issues since. This is just my experience so far but it doesn't hurt to try and see. I know ladies tend to keep the fob in their purses, so try a separate compartment.

On another note, I totally know what you mean about being spoiled. Coming out of the Q5 and into my IS250, it is not as refined. I still remember upgrading from my CR-V to the IS and how nice it was. This isn't good, I am becoming a snob. ;)

Thanks for the tip! I'll try it and let you know.

We're not snobs, our tastes change (improve/refine) with age.... We're also willing to spend more since we make more than when we were students! HA!

No problem. Certainly share your findings.

Agreed, my tastes have been a bit more refined. I drive my mom's Pathfinder ever so often, and it does not drive nearly as nice not to mention it has worse fuel economy to go with that.

I still remember my first job when I was a starving student going to university... how I managed to survive on that? Lots of ramen... :D

Hope you have your baby back by now! I will certainly post results of my loaner...ha ha...and when I get my re-brained Q back. Am I nervous and excited? Yep. Excited about performance and "feel" differences, and nervous about all the things that I have not considered that could go wrong with such, it seems, major surgery.

I don't know why the "the things" text in my last post came up as a link. Don't click it: it's some advertising spam. Hey Administrators, can you fix this?

Hi to the forum and fellow Q5 owners. When I dropped off my Q5 for service they gave me a brand new 2011 A3TDI. I loved it and had a blast with it. I gave up our BMW 335XI and now want to buy an A3 as an interim second vehicle.

I don't have it back because the MMI cable didn't come in last Friday. We had to use the A4 for our weekend getaway. Going out of town to a place we've never been - NAVI would have been really nice... I'm hoping to get the e-mail/call today to pick it up.

It will be fine! It's going to be soo much fun to have that much more power and performance! :p

Re: You know you're spoiled when...

I'm scheduled to take in my Q on Oct. 5th for 2 weeks

am somewhat worried more than anything else.. why? you say? Well, a few days ago while at the dealer I saw a Q5 being worked on by 3 mechanics. -The Q5 was on a lift and the entire engine and transmission was removed from the vehicle!!

I approached the mechanics and was informed that the vehicle was being serviced due to a faulty oil pump! -I had to ask... and indeed it was necessary to remove the engine and tranny.

The mechanic said that they take apart cars like this all the time and that it looks alot worse than it actually is ...?

Anyone know if this is how they service Audi's ? My Q is going in for excessive oil consumption and i'm sure the only thing on the lift will be the body and wheels..

I'm really concerned. -And yes I will miss the Q dearly!

HAHAHAHAH.........I have this image of you walking in and only seeing the frame of your car on the lift. Sorry, just made me laugh.

Thanks, and sorry you have to wait longer. Service indicated this morning that I will be waiting a bit longer as well: they are at the mercy of Customs so it will likely stretch into next week. Sigh.

Oh, well. They at least gave me a right-out-of-the-box A3 for my loaner. I came out of one for the Q5 so that's fun—great little driving car.

 No way!

Wonder how much they need to take apart for an MMI cable... half the interior?
