Winter rim/tires are on!
3 Attachment(s)
I just got my winter rim and tire package put on my Q5. I had Blizzak DM-V1 winter tires installed on 18" Replica M9 wheels. I haven't had any really driving time with them yet but I will post how they do in the snow when the flakes arrive.

Should have no problem getting to BigWhite even in the heaviest snow fall!

Awesome tires man. The rims have lots of gaps, keep those breaks salt free during winter.

We have received a few snow falls in town and one big dump of 6" of snow so I have really gotten to see how the Q5 and winter tires handle winter conditions! This is a awesome combo to have in winter, I had no issues with stopping or skidding and recommend the Blizzak's.

Calgary is a mess with snow and ice and the car still stops and handles like sunny and 30C. I will just have to imagine that scenario since we dont actually get that in Calgary, but you get the point. |
Re: Winter rim/tires are on!
What I noticed recently folks was disabling the ESP really helps with going through deep deep snow. Found that out trying to get out of my driveway three days ago when the Chinook winds drifted snow as deep as the Q's bumper. f you don't the ESP tries to put power to a tire with traction and doesn't really help in the depth of snow I was trying to get through. Anyone else have experience with this?

Re: Winter rim/tires are on!
Hi y'all.
I've been roaming around this board for a while and found tons of useful information that helped me buy a winter set as well. Unfortunately, I'm only getting my Phantom BLack Q5 2.0T SLine in February so it's still far away. I also went with the Blizzaks DM-V1 but in 19" on a ASA GT1 silver wheel. I won't have pictures for a while of course but I will post some when I do. As for the ESP, I always turned it off when stuck in snow, it stops the car from killing the power of the main pulling/pushing wheel. You'll get out of though snow much easier. I'm talking of experience with a VW Jetta only, might be different with Quattro but I doubt it. Your winter set looks great! |

Amen brother. Running Blizzack's on my Q and they are like Velcro in the snow. |
