Hey team anyone mounted a Thule or Yakima Ski Box on their Q5 yet? Suggestions on other models and makes?

I have Thule box no problems. I also have Thule ski rack, no issues. Both brands are good and fit. I have a picture posted somewhere on the forum.

I put a Thule Ranger 90 on top and its worked great. Its a hybrid box with a hard bottom and soft top that can be folded and packed small for storage in the garage. The best part is that with the box/bag installed, the whistling from the racks stopped. Those racks just have to come off if not in use....good thing its not that difficult.

Re: Ski Box.

Anyone know what the total height of the vehicle is after you mount a Thule Box on top? I am worried it won't fit in the underground parking garage. Warcity - any experience parking underground with the box on top?

How is the hwy noise with the box installed? I noticed someone else said it was better than just the standalone OEM racks..

Cheers,

Jimmay

Re: Ski Box.

Hi Jimmay: The weight will depend on the weight and size of the box. If you're referring to the height you will definitely not be able to go to a garage unless it's over 7.5 feet (approximately). This is the issue i have with my condo garage.

The highway noise is bad but if you keep the moon roof closed it's not that bad at all. I have also not seen any changes in gas consumption which is a good thing.
