I am about to pull the trigger on this remote start feature, the shop told me that I have to give up a fob which will be plugged into a devise (will be hidden somewhere in the car) that read off the chip in your fob so that the car can do the remote start action. Is that the case on people who installed this remote start feature? I did loose my valet key. Dealer installed. Don't know if a transponder would have done the job but I guess they took the el chipo route and used my valet key as the bypass. Marc

Would you mind telling me the name of the company who installed it for you? I just bought a new Q7 that came with the convenience key. I contacted Autotemp and they install the Smartstart but only for locks and security functions but not as a starter. I hope that place is also in Calgary
