Default Looking to purchase Q5 2.0T PP, need tips!!

Hey guys,

My family is in the market to buy the awesome Q5, we have been trying to sway the dad to not buy Lexus RX350. Way too many people have that car, you see them every corner of the street. However, what comes down is ultimately the price. I managed to grab CCC report for the same model we are looking in March.

2011 Audi Q5 Quattro 4dr 2.0L Premium Plus Manufacturers Code: 8RBX6A
Base

Retail Price * Wholesale Price **
$45,300.00 $41,540.00

We are looking to add S LINE SPORT PKG, NAVIGATION PKG, SUNROOF, and maybe the sound system as well.
$2,600.00
$3,200.00
$2,300.00
$1,100.00

Since there are no cash incentives like Lexus, we are really looking to get the best deal, we do realize that practically all Q5 needs to in production with four months wait. We did however bump into a 3.2T available with those options but way too expensive.@66000ish quoted

In total $57,095.00 MSRP vs. $52,530.00 Wholesale prices, whats the best we can do in term of profit on top of that wholesale price for the dealer? also including other admin fees etcs. After tax and everything we are looking around 60K budget mark. We should be financing it, we could put bigger money down if that can benefit anyway.

Anyone recently purchased one and perhaps could provide some tips in negotiation? We been to Hwy7 and Sheppard dealerships so far.

Since the Q5 basically sells itself I can't see why a dealer would negotiate. Go in with your price and leave if you don't get it. Alternatively ask to see a different sales person at the dealership. I imagine there's a brotherhood in a dealership so I can't see another sales person at the dealership stealing the sale away. But from your side it's just business 'cuz you're looking for the price you want. So if dealership 1 doesn't take your price, move to the next dealership 2, and so on.
Before you decide on Lexus or Q5 or other, you should test drive them. There are people who test drive the same vehicle multiple times and up to even an hour. If you're planning to drop $60K make sure you have no regrets.
Good luck.
(as an aside, I'm really impressed with the wallet sized smart key of the Lexus, but disappointed with their HUD- smart concept, poor execution)

we are going to another dealership to see.

thanks, yea the HUD on lexus turned me off compare to Q5's crazy headlights.

assuming they accept the invoice price + lets say 4% profit for dealership, would it be possible to get some freebies such as winter tires, carpet mats, i guess it's based on the sales person. would it be wise to get straight to the manager? etc.

thanks

It's a tough one. It may go either way for you, just try to negotiate best price you can. Stay open minded too, some may give you higher prize but more extras, like Audi Care, etc.
From what I heard/red - getting 4% over invoice might be a stretch now, given car is selling smoking hot. But if you negotiate well, then for sure you'll chip off MRSP.
Good luck.

we did chip off MSRP @ 2% which comes to around 6.5% profit over invoice, which is a step forward I guess, we'll move onto another dealership. Goal is 4% over invoice + some freebies.
audi care $750 seems to be unavoidable

Get a broker. We got ours 1.5% above wholesale and didn't have to haggle with any salesperson. We did however added the Audi Care and also negotiated free all season mats.

I just bought the exact car you just described except noS line and no Nav ( I think its a waste ) Has B&O stereo and wood inlays for $39k USD, add fees etc... will come in way cheaper, also no wait, has 6000 miles but in excellent shape. Take a look down south.
