Default Folding mirrors

I have noticed on some videos that side mirrors are folding when one locks Q5. Is that standard feature or its a VAGCOM change?

Standard, go to your MMI you can turn it on/off there. Either 3G or 2G both have it. It's under Car, Setup and I believe the section where you decide how your central locking works.

Question Re: Folding mirrors

I need a little more info... and searches didn't help.

I'm going to look at a new parking spot and it sounded like the owner's worry was that the Q5 wouldn't fit between the houses to get to the rear parking. They said that my current vehicle should fit and it's width is about 74" with the mirrors out (folded 68"). I'll see if it passes through tomorrow...

I won't get the Q5 until May and since I don't have it, I need to find out what it's width is when the mirrors are folded. Are they equal to the vehicle witdh of 74" or do they still stick out a bit...

Can someone please let me know?
Thanks!

Hi Adrena:

The Q5 with the mirrors "unfolded" is 82.2 inches wide (2089 mm). When you fold the mirrors you lose "approx" 3-4 inches from each side, that's about 6-8 inches, taking you down to about 74-76 inches.

My guess will be that it's going to be very very tight compared to 74".

This is the source of the info in the first line of my post:

Audi of America > 2011 Audi Q5 > Audi Q5 Features and Specifications > Detailed Specifications

I hope this helps.

Hi Warcity, I have a basic 2010 Q5 and I don't think I can set the MMI for folding outside mirror , right.

To the "best of my knowledge" the base model 2010 doesn't have folding mirrors.

Thanks Warcity. I think you are right, cos I tried the car set up etc. and I did not see any options that I can set the outside mirror.
When we need you, you always come to rescue. You are the MAN.
