Hello,

I'm hearing a metallic-sounding rattle. This happens only on a cold start when the engine starts to idle, and when it reaches idle, the noise is gone. See video, 7 seconds in. Car only has 20,000 KM. Wondering what it might be - tensioner, timing belt/chain? Maybe this is normal - only way to tell would be to hear what happens with another similar model Q5. I'm taking it the dealership, car under warranty. Would appreciate your thoughts. Hope it's nothing alarming.

That doesn't sound good. Did you check the oil level by any chance?
I doubt it"s the problem but it would be the first thing to do.

Oil level is fine, due for oil change in two weeks. Maybe fresh oil will solve the issue?

Hey sorry for the reviving an old post, but did you find out what that sound was? I have the exact same noise so interested to see what the issue was!

Did you manage to find out what the problem was? I have the same sound. Q5 2019 74k km
