Hello,

Leased a 2013 Q7 in January this year.

Noticed a minor crack (way less than size of a loonie) on the passenger side of the windshield. The crack is more than 5 cm away from the edge of the windshield.

This is the first time I have leased a car. Do I need to contact the dealer first and then the insurance company or the other way?

No need to contact the dealer at all...
Simply consult a local windshield shop and they will contact your insurance and either fix it or replace it.
Depending on your coverage you may end up paying your deductible or if they can fix it in most cases you would not pay a dime

The ONLY time the dealer should be involved is for regular maintenance as described with your manual and at the end of the lease to decide what is considered ''wear and tear''...enjoy your car

The dealer may want an Audi windshield only as the replacement at the end of the lease. Might be worth a call.
