Changing trims inside car

Hi,

Thinking of dealing with Luxwood (Montreal) to change the aluminium boards to wood. They actually don't change them, they just stick the wood-looking ones on top of the existing ones. I am told it looks great but I haven't see it to judge.

Anyone has experience with this? Will the interior look weird? Will it show that I have added a layer on top of the existing one or does it blend rather well?

Any comments/opinions are wlecome.

Thanks!

Hi Pat,

I haven't done it yet as I like the Aluminim trim, but I went to talk at the parts manager at Audi awhile back and he said that they do a great job. He said it is hard to tell the difference.

Europrice sells the OEM replacement trims. They are expensive at about $1000 for the full set for the Q5, however they are OEM replacement parts and they have several different kinds of wood to choose from. From there you can remove the existing trims and install yourself or pay your dealer to do it. My swap at the dealer cost about $400. If your looking for a set of SLine Alum Trims, send me a PM, I have mine from my swap out I'm selling.

Gents, did a lot of ''listenting'' over the last 4 months and this is my first post.

What about doing the opposite? Let me explain: currently in the early stage of analysis to purchase a used Q5 from the US (a lot more available than in Canada so far). All used US Q5 have wood trims inside (MY 2009 and 2010). I personnaly don't like wood and would prefer alluminium. Does anybody know if/where/cost we can buy alluminium trip to replace wood?

thanks

I would say buy Genspec's set of aluminum trims. I don't think he had his in his vehcile for more than a few weeks before swapping them out. they should be brand new condition.

Thanks for the promo Bigc :D. I still have them and can send detailed pics if interrested. SLine Alum Trims from my 2010 QS Sline. They were 2 weeks in the Q before my wood pieces came in and I had the dealer do the swap out. PM me with an email address if interrested. Ohh, and I'm in Ottawa too and would be happy to meet and let you inspect them in person. Mark Motors on HuntClub did the swap out so we know they can install them in yours too. I also have the instructions if you feel like Doing it Yourself.

hi,

i have a base Q5 and i would like to upgrade the headlight to the LED's regret not getting them.

someone told me to buy the hid kits and the head lamps and they should be good enough,

wanted to know if this is good or is there anything else that i would need for the headlights
