Broken strut....installing H&R springs
3 Attachment(s)
I'm having my local tire shop install H&R lowering springs on my 2011 Q5. They removed the passenger side strut from the Q5 and when they went to remove the nut on the top of the strut it sheared right off! The long shaft on the strut is steel but the bolt on the end is aluminum, it sheared off on the aluminum bolt. The nearest strut is in LA and can't be shipped by air because it has compressed gas in it, that means I have to wait a week before it will get here! This sucks. Anybody else have a issue with the struts? The shop is going to remove the three other struts tmrw and we hope we don't have any other issues.
Last picture is a comparison of the stock front spring to H&R front spring |

Also do I need a Camber kit after I install the H&R springs? If so what company did you use.
Thanks |

New strut arrived and the H&R springs where installed. It lowered the stance and gives it much better handling. There is way less body roll and the ride is only a bit more firm. Overall I'm very happy with this mod. Here are some crappy iphone pics.

They are powdercoated sline wheels!!! I'm very happy with how they turned out.
