Default Bike hitch

Hi all, I was wondering I anyone got bike hitch installed. How much you paid and is it difficult to install it. I don't need whole towing package, just bike holder.
Share some info, forum!

Hey, I can't believe that no one is having it installed. Where do you put bikes then? On the top of the roof is out of question.... Inside the trunk???
I have done some digging and it looks like you have to install full towing package just to have connector for bike holder. Price varies from 1500 to 2000 installed by dealer. Just to mention that towing package integrates with ESC, so chip reprogram is necessary for whole think to work properly. For those who want to go with it - be careful - not every dealer even knows that reprogram is needed, and certainly not every dealership knows how to properly reconfigure it. I have read some gruesome stories people coming back to dealer after installation for reprogram 4-5 times. So make sure they know how to make change (done that at least once) and you will save yourself headache.

Hi Tomashek:

Why not over the roof? I am just curious if you've had a bad experience. I know Audi usually promotes the over the roof method.

Couple things warcity,
1. It’s heck of a task to mount 3 bikes (in my case) on the roof, you have to stretch yourself
pretty good.
2. You can easily scratch your car if you're not careful, and when off balance it can happen
more often than one might think. Nobody likes scratches.....
3. If you bike gets dirty, your car gets dirty. All dirt ends up on the roof, and especially with
pano one, it's not pretty.
4. Wind noise is significant with them on the roof, can be annoying.
5. It looks like s@#$. You loose a lot from cool factor. You feel like everybody is checking you
out thinking: WTF. You can either choose to ignore it or it bothers you. It would bother me.
I would rather have them on bike holder at the back, but it looks like it not that easy. You have to install whole towing package.
