Audi Q5 Oil Fileter
Question regarding Audi 2011 oil filter and cost. Q-5 2 liter.
I plan to buy one filter from a dealer split in half and buy an aftermarket filter not a cheap substitute to see what the dif. is, Split with .020 thou .5 mm blade. Cut the thing in half. When I have time to do it in my shop I will try to post it as I just did the oil change today. Oil used Pennzoil Euro 5-30 Euro spec oil. As for oil?l I switced to Pennzoil formula. Both Castrol and Pennzoil look good. Bottom line someone makes these filters for everyone including Audi. I see a 50% savings in the cost if my tests show the filter is on par with OEM? |

VW-AUDI STANDARD: 502.00, 503.00,... Any oil that meets VAG quality standard 502.00 will maintain your engine warranty. Buy original oil filter. Due to the $ 10-15 savings you can make a bigger problem http://www.oilspecifications.org/volkswagen.php |
Re: Audi Q5 Oil Fileter
Thanks for the reply regarding the oil filter. What I question is someone in North America makes these filters. I would like to see what the real difference is. I have done this in the past and have seen some filters with a relief valve in the base while after market filters did not have them. I'm sure the OEM filter supplied by Audi is the better one to avoid warrenty issues. I still plan to see what the difference is. It's not just the cost more my own curiosity. Not looking to save 15 0r 20 bucks it will cost me more just to find out but I need to know.
As for the oil I would prefer Castrol Edge Syn... As for Pennzoil. I see very little difference as long as they meet the standards which Castrol does and according to Pennzoil it does as well. First time I have used the Pennzoil product it was just a little more convenient to buy it this time. I doubt I will see any change regardless of which oil I use and I do change oil more often than required by the service manual. When I get a chance in the future I will post what I see. Perhaps I will wait for the next oil change and then split the old Audi filter and compare that to the after market product.
