Audi Q5 Newbie

Hi Guys,

I came from the BMW community and now switched to Audi Community.

I just ordered the 2018 Q5 and I needed to learn a lot from this forum.

First question to you guys, I will change the winter wheels myself but I am not sure do I need a special jack pad to lift up the vehicle. My BMW needs a special jack pad to place in on the lift jack so that it will not break the hollow plastic jack pad mounted on the bottom of the lifting points.

So, please advise what kind of jack pad do I need to buy?

In addition, anyone here already got the new 2018 Q5 and install the front dash cam? Would you please tell me the routing? I was in the dealership last time and check the headliner of the new Q5. I found that the seam from the rear mirror bracket on the windshield to the A-pillar is not accessible. It seems the cable cannot tug inside the headliner. I suspect the only way to get the power is from the overhead console.

Does anyone have a solution to this matter?

Thanks.

Welcome: For a jack pad I use a Hockey puck cut straight down the middle about the width of a hand held circular saw blade and it works perfect on my 2010 Q5 to change wheels seasonally. I have used this type Jack pad now for 7 seasons.

Great. I see., thanks..

I have an aluminum adapter used for jacking up my BMW. The shape of the adapter is a 1/2" thick 4" circular plate with a rectangular block on top. I believe I can modify the block by cutting a straight line on top of the rectangular block and lift up the Q5.

I have a 2 tonne lifting jack, do you think it is strong enough to lift up the Q5?
