Audi’s Q5 Hybrid Leaked (VIDEO)
Why wait for an auto show when you can launch something on the internet. Audi just revealed full specs and video clips of its first production hybrid the 2011 Q5 Hybrid Quattro SUV, rather than waiting for the 2010 Los Angeles Auto Show.
This will be the automaker’s first hybrid. Up until now, Audi had only shown hybrid technology on its concept cars such as the A1 Sportback, e-tron Spyder and metroproject quattro.
The SUV will get the power of a V6 engine, and the fuel consumption of a four-cylinder from its turbodiesel engine and electric motor.
The car delivers 245-horsepower and gets about 33.6 MPG — similar fuel efficiency to most smaller cars.
The Q5 Hybrid can go from 0 to 62 mph in 7.1 seconds, with a top speed of 138 miles per hour. Emissions will be much lower than those released by the gasoline-powered model, with preliminary figures pointing to 170 grams of CO2 per kilometer, reports Nitrobahn.
The hybrid also has some fantastic fun features on board. You can operate it in “EV-only mode while driving up 62 mph–the highest electric-only top speed for a hybrid,” CNET notes. On a full battery, the Q5 can travel only 1.86 miles at 37 mph, similar to hybrids like the Prius.
As with a lot of new cars these days, the 2011 Q5 Hybrid will have Google Earth navigation and internet connectivity for other Google services, such as news and search.
“There’s also hot spot connectivity for up to eight devices, so whatever the navigation can’t deliver, your iPad can.
The price for all this technology was one of the few details not revealed by the manufacturer,”
CNET reports.
Though Audi is one of the last automakers to come out with a hybrid, this technology is far more advanced than what other car manufacturers have shown in the past. A price wasn’t revealed on the car yet, but we’re not expecting it to be cheap.
