Default Anyone Install Running Boards on their Q5?

Thinking about having the dealer add them as I am a big fan of them on my truck, that and my wife is short and had difficulty getting in and out of the Q5 we Test Drove due to past knee surgeries.

Anyone have them and:

1) Opinions on them if you have them?
2) Opinions on them even if you don't have them
3) If you do have them or have some photos of some Q's with them installed, PLEASE share them as the Accessories pics in the e-brochures aren't all that telling.

I didn't order mine with the running boards, nor will I add them. The SUV is still relatively low to the ground compared to trucks, I have knee issues too, so I'm in the same ball park here. I have been getting in and out of my Jeep (which has a far greater ground clearance) without an issue. I feel the running boards on the Q5 makes it look too much like a minivan, and you also lose some of the road clearance that you expect from a SUV. Each to their own, however, if you don't need them save the money and keep the Q5 looking sporty.

I agree with the above, when I got my Q5 running board wasn't an option. This is a luxury SUV in my opinion running board take away a tad bit from the luxury. Also to the point above it's fairly low to the ground really no point.

Ground clearance has never really been an issue for me, but then again I own a Pickup Truck so getting around in the Mud is not really an issue. My wife is 5' on the nose so getting in an out is always a challenge. The pickup truck was literraly impossible until we put the side steps on.

Thanks for the heads up on the lowering springs Tony, although I don't think I will go that route, as I like the overall height of the car. lol.

I also like that the running boards also help keep the body somewhat protected from Damage, my main concearn is do they look good? I don't see the minvan look at all from the brochure, and that is a very good point though. I'd love to see some members pics who have them so I can see more of them to make up my mind. If they do look minivan-ish they "ain't" going on.

I found this link, some computerized pictures. Not a true runnig board I think. I like the ones that stick out a little bit.

Audi Q5 - Running Board Side Step

I am not sure if you already have the car or not but if not wait until you get it and test out how easy or hard it is to get in. You can really lower the seats get in and down press the memory and raise the seat back up. My previous car was lowered and I don't really find this that hard.

Why not?! I'm thinking about doing it!

Mmmm...

Back to your original query...

They look pretty good, but are bloody expensive!

On the Audi USA site they are USD $900 per side.

There's also a different jack and tools required for use with them. Europrice is offering them in a package with the jack and tools for USD $2200.

I looked up the price from Audi Canada and they are CAD $1000 per side. The jack and tool kit is worth CAD $170.

The cheapest price I have seen them is at genuinevwaudiparts.com for USD $710 per side. The jack is USD $120.

Thanks for the Heads Up all. Gotta say that I will NOT be getting the running boards. Gotta say though that the concept Q is very nice. Wish they had that spoiler as an option!

Good choice! Yeah a spoiler would be nice on the Q5.
