2018 Q5 winter tires question

Did anyone here already purchase the winter tire package for the new 2018 Q5?

If so, do you need to purchase the TPMS as well?

Thanks.

Re: 2018 Q5 winter tires question

My understanding is that the Q5 monitors the speed of each wheel, to detect a lower tire pressure.

So, it means there is no TPMS sensor on each wheel, right?

That's what my tire guy told me... will confirm. For other cars that use sensors in each wheel, there are now aftermarket sensors that are much cheaper than OEM sensors... the tire dealers program them.

If there is no TPMS, that's will be great because I can save at least a couple hundred dollars.

My Mercedes has the aftermarket TPMS sensors on the winter wheels.

Try aftermarket if you need them

My Mercedes ones cost around $300 for all corners back in 2014.

Sure, I will use the aftermarket ones.
