2018+ Q5 Transmission

I had my 2013 Q5 in for a major service and they gave me a 2020 as a loaner for a few days. One thing that did not impress me was the 7 speed dual clutch transmission. I guess it is for fuel economy but in drive it would hold a gear far too long before shifting down, to the point of lugging and some engine vibration. In sport it would hold it too long before shifting up, reluctant to shift up even when throttle was reduced. I think the 8 speed ZF in the older cars is far more intuitive, it always seems to be in the right gear. There are a lot of things I did like about the newer car but this was a step backward IMO. Anyone else have the same impression?
