2018 Audi Q5 - Integrated Traffic Update for the Navigation Syste

I have recently purchased 2018 Audi Q5 Technik and got the Audi Connect also working.
But I am struggling to find answer to one question:
How do I get Traffic Updates on my Navigation screen so that it highlights the routes in RED/YELLOW/GREEN.
I have contacted SirrusXM and they said it is not available for my vehicle.
Then I have contacted Audi Canada and they have been sending a standard response and finally answered my question and I couldn't believe it:

Could you folks please tell me those who bought the 2018 Audi Q5 recently are in the same situation as me?
THAT IS, WE WILL NEVER BE ABLE TO GET TRAFFIC UPDATES IN THESE VEHICLES

The following is the email response I received from Audi Canada.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Thank you for your latest email.

As requested, please find the answers to your questions in a yes/no format:

> 1) Can I get Traffic Updates on my navigation system now?
No.

> 2) If Not, Do I have any other means to get Traffic Updates on my navigation system?
Not through Audi Canada. We do not make recommendations for aftermarket alternatives.

> 3) If Not, Do I ever be able to get Traffic Updates on my navigation system in the future ( on this vehicle)?
No.

We hope this addresses your inquiries. Should you have any further questions or comments please do not hesitate to contact us through our Customer Care Center at (800) 822-2834. We are open Monday through Friday 8:00am to 8:00pm, Eastern Standard Time.

What about via Apple Maps (Apple CarPlay Integration)?

The Sirius XM Traffic information is not as good as that from Google maps, in my experience. Sirius XM turns it on for a couple of weeks, typically twice per year, to entice new customers. In direct comparisons, the offering from Google maps is much more accurate. Why not use Android Auto which is supported by your 2018 Q5?

Thanks for the responses folks.
Yes I am aware of Android Auto and Apple Car Play.

I have always been using Garmin's top of the line model GPS with Life Time Traffic and Map update.
I was very happy with Garmin and its digital traffic updates and it was mostly accurate.

This is the first time I bought a vehicle with built-in navigation system. I was very eager to use it with the 8" display and without the need to connect my own device and wires hanging in the front.

I frequently travel/drive to the U.S. and can't use Android Auto with cellular data.

That is why I am very disappointed. Why would I pay for navigation system and never be able to use it?

I am back to square one, the good old Garmin GPS.

I am very disappointed with how Audi handled this situation.
Everything seems to be working perfectly in the U.S. market, but when it comes to Canada, they don't care.

I understand completely now! We were forced to do exactly the same thing with our 2011 Q5. Audi and Sirius XM could not get their acts together, buying a US Sirius XM subscription proved to be impossible (only one electronic serial number on a 2011 Q5 for Sirius XM), and we ended up doing exactly the same thing (a good Garmin Nuvi). I feel your frustration and can only be amazed that Audi and Sirius XM have not yet cleaned this up!

Thanks Mike.

in my opinion, a navigation system without traffic updates is useless.
Audi should not charge for navigation system if they can't make traffic updates service available through their navigation system.

Looks like Audi is sending out a standard letter......almost word for word with mine.

Thank you for contacting Audi Canada.

These services require a second SIM and additional hardware, which Audi Canada does not currently provide support for.

Audi Connect Infotainment Services will however be coming to Canada in the near future. While the details of the upcoming Audi Connect Infotainment Services have not been released, we can confirm that they will be comparable to services already offered in the US.
