2014 Q5 Winter Package
I shall be picking up my Audi Q5 in a weeks time. In Winter Package The tires are 235/65R17 and they are a Marangoni 4-ice on an Alloy rim with Audi center cap.
Never heard of Marangoni. Are they good? Should I buy it from the dealer or look outside |
Re: 2014 Q5 Winter Package
"Marangoni" sounds hideous. Never heard of them. Any pics of the rims? What's the price? I'd take a look at the Hartmann rims if your budget fits. They have a distributor in BC and shipping is quite reasonable at +/- $100. You can check out Tirerack.com for lots of winter tire options. I guess it all depends on what the dealer is charging you. Anyway, here's the site for great Audi replica wheels:

Re: 2014 Q5 Winter Package
I picked up a set of nice rims from Tirerack, then put the tires that came with the Q5 onto them. After that I put Nokian Studded tires onto my OEM rims... has worked out really nice.

Re: 2014 Q5 Winter Package
Yeah, you picked up some really nice rims off Tirerack. I love the powder coating you had done to them, too.

Re: 2014 Q5 Winter Package
I wouldn't walk away from the Marangoni's, I'd run. They don't even manufacture tires anymore. Your dealer is an idiot for dealing tires that aren't in production. Probably got them off the back of a truck.

Re: 2014 Q5 Winter Package
What is the dealer charging for this set up?

Re: 2014 Q5 Winter Package
Yeah, so many better choices for winter tires than what your dealer is trying to sell to you
Michelin, Bridgestone, Goodyear and Nokian all make a great winter tire. If you put a package of rims and tires together on Tirerack, they will even balance them up before they ship them to you... you can just pop them directly onto your car when they arrive. They are pretty awesome, I've ordered a lot of tires and rims off of tirerack with zero problems.

If I had gone with an SQ5 I would have totally copied your idea! |

Never heard of Marangoni. Are they good? Should I buy it from the dealer or look outside I find it hard to believe Mark Motors is selling this stuff, they usually opt for a reputable brand on OEM wheels, unlike the replica's you are being supplied with. |
Re: 2014 Q5 Winter Package
I picked up my 2014 Q5 TDI at Marks in November but went with wheels and rims from Kanata Rims and Tires. They price matched a package I had put together at TireRack and it ended up being about $1500 after taxes.
I have replica wheels which I am extremely pleased with and Dunlop Winter Sport 3D tires. |
Re: 2014 Q5 Winter Package
I just scanned through their website. They seem to be very proud of the low prices they offer their customers. $1500 for a full set of rims and Dunlop tires is very cheap, indeed.

Re: 2014 Q5 Winter Package
Thank you everyone for your responses. I did check out Tirerack it looks like a US company: will they ship to Ottawa? I was also wanting Audi Centre Caps on the replicas, is it possible from Tirerack.
I know a tire dealer in Montreal adv on kijiji.ca selling Micheline Ice with rims and audi centre caps for $1350 +100 shipping. Would pref Tirerack if it comes with Audi Centre Caps. |
Re: 2014 Q5 Winter Package
Tirerack doesn't carry Audi Caps, but they are very easy to get online.

Re: 2014 Q5 Winter Package
You can get caps in a few different sizes. They are measured by diameter in mm.
Truthfully, if you have a dealer who can sell you a set of rims with Michelin X-Ice's and center caps for $1350, you'd probably be better off going that route. The Michelins alone would cost you that with shipping and import duties/taxes. |
Re: 2014 Q5 Winter Package
I got my new 2014 Q5 2.0T two weeks ago.
I bought a set of winter tires package from R Razing. 255 55 R18 Michelin Lititude Xice Xi2 + 18 inch GTS alloy wheels, total: $1559.40. But now my concern is the OEM size is : 235 55 R18. This set wider than OEM. Will it damage my engine? |
