2011 Q5 deal
Thanks. I understand his but still it does not justify the delay on my order...
So far I am the only one is waiting for Q this long...

Your dealer does not have a contact at Audi Germany, they only have a contact at Audi Canada who can tell them the reason for the delay if it is factory/supplier related. There was a production delay on S line in January because the supplier to the factory could not provide enough of the tires that are used on the S line pkg so only orders without S line could be built.
Demand for the the Q5 is high all over the world and the factory can't build them fast enough. Canada gets a portion of the production spaces each month and them assigns them to the dealers. The number assigned is different from dealer to dealer based on their annual sales volume. Most dealers will take the order even if they don't have a production spot that month. This is why there are delays of 4-6 months or more.
When your dealer took your order in November, they may not have had a production spot. If your delivery date is April then your car was built in March. It only takes about a month to get here after its built. Your dealer should be able to tell you when your car received a production spot.
The S line delay was a few weeks so if your dealer had orders before yours with that package, they would fill their production spots in order. If they didn't have enough that month to fill your order, they have to move it to the next month and so on. If another dealer said their customer ordered the car in December and they are getting it in March, it means that dealer had enough production spots to cover all the orders they had.
Hopefully this answers a few of your questions.

I waited 6 months for mine, bought it July 31 '10 and took delivery on January 29 '11. I was originally told 3 months, got very little info aside from "there is a delay", etc. The saving grace was that my sales rep didn't avoid my calls and would tell me what he could, but there was no VIN, no emails and no real updates.
While I waited, many on this board who bought 2 or 3 weeks before me were getting delivery in 4 months. So clearly I was getting screwed... but what are you going to do? I stayed patient, didn't raise a stink, and just bit my tongue. I tried to stay mentally positive and just focus on the excitement of knowing that I'd have the car soon.
As soon as I picked up the car, I forgot about the wait. If I had canceled the order I would have had to buy another and be at the back of the queue again, or bought another vehicle which was clearly inferior to the Q5. So even though fate frowned on me as far as waiting time, now that I have the car it's just water under the bridge.
So my advice: don't spend a lot of time and energy fighting something that is out of your control. April is around the corner, you'll have your car and you will LOVE IT, as I do. Stay positive, my friend!

Thanks Steve ... If I get it next month then no problem but he date they says on the stays page is week of May 30.... That would be 6 and 1/2 months... Hey clearly taking the advantage of the delay they had in the past and keep milking it.... I am sure thy must have assigned my order to some one we who didn't get as much discount there for more profit for them.... I now regret going to that dealer.....
If any of you thinking to buy new audi then please talk to many other sales person who's on this form and go through them ...

1/2 month after I got VIN, the dealer told me the car is to be delivered to me in one month. So tatally could be 1 1/2 month after having VIN. I cancelled the car, and in the same day, got a RDX tech model, saved 10K (5K price, 5K interest) in total. I got the car two days later after the deal.
Now I have driven the car (RDX) 200KMs, feeling it is not as good as Q5 in aspects of quiteness, smooth ride and interior materials, but still enjoying its power, agiliity, navigation and voice controls, convenience facilities, etc. Hope its reliability won't dissappoint me after 4 years.

BTW - if the chrome chips on the nose, bring it in because they usually change it under warranty (and they'll do it more than once).
I've had an Acura TSX and my family has owned a few of their vehicles. Ours were very reliable. No complaints and the maintenance costs were reasonable.

The RDX is not that good from my days of experience, annoying engine noices (drive me crazy, for real) ruined the hign-end audio system, 13.9L/100KM mileage unacceptable for such a small car.
If Q5 is reliable, it is sure to be a better choice than RDX.

After contacting Audi Canada on March 17 and i got the response back today. The reason they told me for my delays is as expected, the excuse of S-Line package. Good news is at least now i know my car will be in production week of April 4-10.
How long does it take to get the car after it goes to production in Germany?
