Default 2010 Q5 3.2l intake manifold issue?

Recently, I’ve taken my 3.2l q5 to the shop for diagnosis as it’s been idling rough. They came to the conclusion that the intake manifold and the surrounding parts needed to be replaced. My dad mentioned that he had never heard of an intake manifold going bad.. is this a common issue for the 3.2? Do you really think it’s my intake manifold that has gone bad?

Have you ever had any overheating issues? Coolant leaks? any visible signs of leaking from your engine surrounds? While it may not be common, it could be possible.

did the mechanic check the spark plugs? Pulled any codes from the car? Do you mean the exhaust manifold?

its quite possible that its related to the intake manifold gasket. Coolant can leak if the gasket has gone bad and will also allow air to seep into the engine ruining the fuel/air mixture and thus causing rough operation

i think labour might be about $150-200. Its not the most difficult job. If you have some wrenching skills, you could probably tackle this.
