Default Tuning Chip & DSG transmission

I was discussing a tuning chip with the owner of Precision Tuning Motorsports, he no longer sells a performance chip. He also said that if I were to install a performance chip, I would likely be repairing or replacing my transmission within 20000 km.

I have no issues with my transmission in my TT, nor did he identify any problem that I should expect in the near future. His claim is based that the DSG is not built for the additional torque and horsepower.

I have never read anything here about a transmission failure due to chipping the car. Does any have any knowledge or experience to support or refute this claim? I would suspect that anyone who would purchase the tuning chip would also be more demanding on the transmission.

pls comment,

al

I have never heard of that unless your doubling your HP and TQ numbers at the bare minimum then you would most likely need to upgrade your transmision. But I did hear that you can get a chip or softwear upgrade for the tranny ecu. Don't know how true that is but if his claims are true then maybe that is what you should be looking at doing aswell. Every upgrade has a downside to some OEM parts...
