i want more hp. any advice? chip?

I recently bought a b6 1.8tq with 80,000kms on it.

i called h2sport to get a quote for an apr chip with 3 programs ( stock, 91, 93) for $811 tax included. i asked him(craig) if it was necessary for me to get a dv, he said that i dont have too..and he rarely hav encountered anyone with a dv that blew. is it necessary to get it? if i were to get one i was thinking of getting a r1 or the forged007. any advice?

how do you think of the price of 811?

i was also thinking about switching the break pads..but im fairly new with this hobby, therefore im clueless. im interested in the hawk HPS pads @$110. yes no?

Kinetic Motorsport - VW/Audi 1.8T Longitudinal Turbo Manifold. should i get that as well? i was just snooping the site and seeing what could increase my hp. my budget is around 1500 for now...

thanks guys! im new at this and i dont know much. any advice would help

That is a pretty good price for APR and their 3 program., I was quoted something along those lines as well.

As for the DV read my DV review and research thread in the General Section. I personally would go with a Forge as you can rebuild it anytime, replace the springs if you go to higher boost, etc. good investment. With the APR R1 it is a diaphram and it will eventually break. The issue with forge however is you need to grease it once a year. The guy that told you that the stock DV wont give, I think in most cases I have heard of people driving with it on until it gives.

HPS pads sound good it was something I was going to go with but I would also upgrade the rotors from my perspective it is probably time unless they were replaced at 50000km's

I dont see why you need a turbo manifold yet though????

Best bang for your buck would be the chiping and most gains. while you are at it I would look into the APR Stage 1+ program. Takes you from I think 215 to 235hp??? not sure thats of top of my head check APR for more details!

first of all, thanks for such a timely reply.

i was just looking at the apr stage 1+ program. indeed it takes 215 to 235 hp. however it says i need larger fuel injectors? dont know what they are..im assuming they inject larger amount of fuel. LOL. how much would that cost?

if i do upgrade to the stage 1+ program, do i have to do any other modifications to my car in order to keep up with the program?

would the technical/mechanical life die much faster?

Yeah fuel injectors APR states something like $500 but if you look around you can get them as low as 275$ usually in the $350 range.

Mechanicly I would say yes in a way because you are pushing the turbo much harder so the first thing to go would be the turbo. and that is pretty much about it on average. I would look into replacing your timing belt soon as it is about $1000 and needs to be replaced at roughly 120 000km's but I would change mine at 100k,

My personal opinion and I have a tip tronic is that I will chip mine with the Stage 1+, as it is 400- 500 more and you gain another 20HP. Which is pretty significant for that amount. If you want to go bigger turbo aka BT then save up for the apr stage 3

Reliability also depends on how well you maintain your car and how you drive obviously, I have heard guys putting 300HP at the wheels with out any issues with over 250k km's on the car so it all depends

slow down Mirza, we reserve the BT label for those GT35's and GT40's, you can go to a bigger turbo ie K04, injectors, intake, exhaust. But 1 move is right best bang for buck on 1.8t is the stage 1 or stage 1+, do your reserch on the chips, lots of options. GIAC, Unitronic, APR VAST, MTM EPL so many more. Just make sure the chip is as aggressive or subtle as you want it

ATP TURBO - The Premiere Provider of Turbocharging Components
GT28RS kit (extremely popular with the 1.8T transverse guys)
$2400, and check out this dyno comparing stock, chipped, and the GT28RS on the 1.8T engine:

what abt the dmg to the engine. so much power seems like it would cut down the life of it

Why would there be any damage to the engine?

Engines like to be worked, just dont like to be overworked with no lubrication.
